DFCS did not screw your life up. They are there to protect your children’s lives. With all the drama in your life, it sounds like they should stay involved.

So sorry to hear about your daughter.

They have a right and an obligation to continue to protect any children that could be born into a potentially hazardous situation.

They have such a heavy case load that the possibility of them checking up on you without someone calling to alert them you are pregnant is unlikely.

If everything is really wonderful in your life then the likelihood of someone calling to report you is small.

they can come back & do an investigation, and they likely will.

i’m worried about them, myself, as my husband’s child was taken from his ex & his parental rights terminated, and i’m currently pregnant… and they are NOT always fair! they can do a lot of good in many instances, but sometimes they yank kids away from perfectly loving parents & place them in an abusive foster home. i’ve seen it, there’s been stories in the news about it, it cannot be denied that they make mistakes as well.

I think You should be okay. If DFCS doesn’t know you have another child, then they shouldn’t have any reason to “get involved”. They are there to “protect the children”, but are a few who like to play “God” with their position. Sounds like your bf is doing Much Better and that is Great !! I am sooo sorry for the loss of your daughter. Good Luck !!

Its unlikely that they will re-enter your lives again unless there is another complaint, or he becomes ill again.
Even if they do, you can prove to them that your situation has changed, and once assured, they will leave you to it.

First, I want to say sorry for your loss. I know that DFCS can mess up people’s lives. In my city the mayor called a town meeting to talk about DFCS. There were some kids who died in their custody. I was the Court Reporter. I saw firsthand people get up and tell their stories about how DFCS ruined their lives. So I do believe you. I would just like to say that if everything is fine, nothing will happen. If you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing as parents, please, don’t worry. I wish you lots of luck and happiness in your new beginnings. Congratulations. Try to relax.
