    I agree in some respects.

It certainly takes a lot of courage to keep living if your idea of what your life should be has not been fulfilled.

But let me add that clinical depression is a real illness. An actual chemical imbalance in the brain that affects rationality. If in fact a person is clinically depressed and takes his own life as a result the fault really is that he didn’t seek help which is often the case with depression.

Now as for a person who just cannot bear what life has to face, yes it is a cowardly action.

The dilemma really is who is suffering from an illness and who is commiting a cowardly act?

A very complex issue in my opinion.

Suicidal ideation is not that simple. If it were then people would “get over it” as it were. The fact is, when someone is suicidal, their brain chemistry is not functioning properly. They cannot see past the pain of their depression and some actually view ending their life as a favour to others. They are mentally ill and it has nothing to do with moral judgements like “being a coward”.

Your statement above indicates to me that you have not actually faced depression yourself and therefore your thoughts on the matter are indicative of someone who has no clue about this illness. Do you judge people with other types of illnesses so harshly? Like perhaps a quadriplegic should “just get up and walk and stop wallowing”?

Clinical depression and the subsequent symptom of suicidal ideation is an illness and individuals with this type of malfunctioning brain chemistry should not be held to the standards of a “normal” thinking person. They are not thinking properly and therefore, it is not only insensitive, it is completely erroneous to expect individuals with this mental illness to “face your depression and face your troubles”. They face their depression every single second of every single day and cannot just “snap out of it” as you seem to think they can.

God is testing us while we are on this earth. It’s to easy to kill oneself, that is the easy way out. When ones kills them self they float around in a dark hole for the rest of eternity never ever entering into heaven. It is against God’s plans to commit suicide.

there is just so much to say about this topic…. remember that some people Might be “cowards” but society has long recognized that when a person is contemplating suicide it is usually not by a choice that involves being rational. Mental illness doesn’t just stop because you want it to. And it is in most cases impossible to recognize you even have a problem its like trying to look at your nose without a mirror (just to close to see)
