For a really creepy feeling – not one manufactured by movies or media – I pray. It works EVERY time.

If it’s in the movies – I leave the cinema or room, or turn the video OFF.

I see no point in filling my mind with garbage – also known as entertainment.

You don’t need to make that stuff funny, it really is rather funny. I mean have you seen Jason X, one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. Maybe I’m just crazy but I really do find that kind of thing funny. As far as times that I actually get scared I don’t prevent it, I just ignore it. I may pay attention to things a bit more when I’m scared but thats about it so why bother worry to try and prevent it.

I heard that if you just repeat one word, like one safe-sounding word, in your head over and over, it calms down your adrenaline. Our brains are made so that when you get scared, they react to any kind of fear as if its like this huge dinosaur. You have to train your brain to recognize what’s safe. So basically, deep breathing, repeating one word, and thinking positive thoughts are supposed to help.
