Depression is the only answer to your question, feeling like you are in a hole so deep that death is the only way out.

Suicide is what happens when life out weighs your skills for coping.

  4. M, August 13, 2010:

When it makes more sense than staying in the utter senseless, pointless and misery of everyday life.

it’s when people think “the best possible option for me at this point is suicide” after weighing all of their options

  5. Loz, August 13, 2010:

There are a lot of drugs (including medical drugs, and especially psychiatiric drugs) which list depression and even suicide as their side effects.

Now I’ve never really thought about suicide myself, but I imaginbe if llife gets so painful, and has little hope of getting any better, suicide may start to seem like a good answer.

Also if there are some things in your life you would rather not confront then suicide is a way out of that.

you can never truly know wh;y, until you’ve felt the way they’ve felt. I always thought that suicide was completley pointless- that the only thing it would “end” is a chance to escape and start over in a better life. However, once I became deeply depressed, I realized that suicide isn’t just about ending things (mainly the depression), it’s about not being able to endure what’s happeninng when you’re living. It’s kinda strange to explain, but it’s just that when people become so depressed, they simply can’t see ANY hope at all, of ever escaping the life they’re trying to endure currently. So because of that, they go suicide so they don’t feel anything AT ALL. It’s not about feeling relief from everything; you can’t feel anything if you’re dead. It’s just about allowing yourself to feel nothing at all- seemingly better than what the person is living in now.

There are many reason really. This person could feel like they are not good enough. or they could feel angry at something they have done. Guilt is a big one too. and then there are always just being manically depressed but that one is actually uncommon. because normal good people do bad things and then feel guilty for it.

At that very moment, it may just be that everything crashed and the person “snapped”. It doesn’t seem like the right or wrong thing to do. A person just does it. However, living to tell about it and seeing what the domino effect would have caused, makes it look different from an unclouded mind. Very good question, not sure there is ONE correct reason. I wish I knew. I wish people were more understanding of people that have been through suicide attempts.

My opinion would be that when things get tough the people that do commit suicide are just too impatient to wait for things to blow over. Everything seems horrible in life at that moment but time really is the cure for everything. If we could just fast forward thru the bad I would think no one or very few would go through with it. People just worry too much about what others think. Who cares if your house is repoed and you have to live with family or friends or in a shelter, you start all over but you have your life to do it with! So what if you are an under aged parent your not the only one! The bills come and go so you have bad credit work harder next time, give up someof the possessions and enjoy the free stuff! I just went through alot of these problems and its finally getting better after a month of misery. I am glad I was patient enough to wait now I can enjoy my nieces and nephews and every other good thing in life. I do still miss alot because I can’t afford it but its free to ride my bike and enjoy the great weather! They just need to be positive, patient and don’t worry about the Jones’!

untill you suffer from this horrible illness its almost impossilbe to understand.but let me tell you it can seem like a black darkness that you cant come out of……

  12. Poet N, August 13, 2010:

From what I was tought in Psychology its actually NOT depression. For example, people with MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) typically don’t have the energy to get out of bed or even clean themselves. How do you expect those people to actually kill themselves? I learned it was typically when people are on a downward spiral, like a mixed state from mania to depression (mood swing).

Typically people, who commit suicide, are people who have a major psychological condition (bipolar, schizophrenia), major negative life events, or have an addiction of some sort.

  13. Haley, August 13, 2010:

Because sometimes living doesn’t seem worth it. I contemplated suicide once. I just didn’t care anymore, life didn’t seem worth living, and I would have rather died than been alive at the time.

I’m afraid you’ll never understand it unless you’ve been there. It’s very hard to describe enough for you to understand. If you’ve never dealt with depression either it’s even harder to explain.

  14. MET me?, August 13, 2010:

People that have lost all hope and become so self involved they cannot get past themselves. I would say it’s a mix of selfishness and sadness combined into one big mess.

  15. Joseph G, August 13, 2010:

I speak as a person who survived an attempt.

A suicidal person is not being selfish, crying out for help, all that is crap.

Suicidal people don’t feel pain, they feel empty. I can only compare it to walking down a dark tunnel and never seeing an end. You feel like it won’t make any difference if you keep walking or you stop. You’re not going to get anywhere, no matter what you do.

A suicidal person doesn’t want to die. They no longer care if they live or die. It is a very volatile. One moment you seem stable, the next you’re over the edge.

Remember that tunnel. One minute you want to walk, the next you just want to stop. It doesn’t matter. You feel like you are never going to find a way out.

Anything can push a person in that condition over the edge. And I mean anything.

When I look back and think about what almost happened, it makes my blood run cold. I am so thankful to still be here.

Some people feels like their life isnt worth it. They just dont wanna live anymore. Then they commit suiside. they think in their heads, “Why am I living? I’m not appriciaded at all. My life is pointless. I can just go die.” they kill themselves and that is how sometimes i feel too. But i just cant die yet.

there is no one solid reason,
could be life, loss, pain of living-mental or physical, for me (the only thing that stopped me was being in the priory) it was after being abused by my father and grandfather till i was 8, rejected by my mother from 8, being raped at 14 but having to stay with the guy as it was the only way away from where i was living, then having 10yrs of abuse from him (as i married him at 17) I had a nervous breakdown and just did not want any thing else to happen, waking up in the morning was too painful, i went in the priory the day after finally finding proof that my good for nothing husband had been cheating, and when i was in there the only time he contacted me was to tell me to hurry up a kill myself! Fortunately i have a stubborn streak! and slowly got believing that it was them not me that had the problems, I now have a wonderful new husband and a lovely 5 year old son, but things are still hard sometimes, it mainly is a mind set, it is how you are thinking.

  18. bullet b, August 13, 2010:

well if you are looking for the cause then before one does, ask why. anyways people who are after the reasons are usually after reproducing the same results.

  19. kry_ti_kal, August 13, 2010:

Well, that all depends if you are that depressed and you found out things about the person you supposedly loved. I should know because I’ve lost two family member’s in one year and a month apart from each other they both committed suicide. They both had major love problems so they took it upon them and hung them self and it was a just because moment for them.

  20. Karl Wolf, August 13, 2010:

Well, it’s not alaways depression, but that is the cause of a lot of it! Excluding Jihad-type suicide, it is typically because a person no longer finds their life worth living (again, depression) although it would vary from person to person (like in rare cases people will commit suicide not because theyr’e depressed, but because they have been greatly humilited) It would make more sense to me to, like run off to another country to escape, but I suppose when someone is auctually considering suicide that doesn’t seem very realistic or appealing.
